Ibanez Mandolin Serial Numbers • Pre Serial 523 003
Dick, the original owner of this no label, no serial 523, has this to say about his mandolin: It was purchased new at McCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Monica, CA sometime during the mid 1970s, I think I paid $565 for it. It was hanging on the wall with no pickguard. They offered to put it on (there is a tiny mounting hole on the lower side) but I opted out since I liked the appearance better without.
Since purchase only two trips to the repair shop have occurred. The first was about 5 to 8 years ago when I had the nut notched out a bit so the strings would sit lower over the lower frets. The second was last year when I had the first 9 fret bars replaced. There is no visible warping to either neck or body.
